Facilities — A Real Manufacturing Footprint
A publicly traded REIT that owns one of the Dynetics buildings describes it as a 278,000 square foot industrial facility in Huntsville — 26,450 sq ft of office and 251,550 sq ft of distribution, R&D, and manufacturing space — fully leased to Dynetics through February 2030.
That is useful independent confirmation that the Huntsville operation is a real manufacturing footprint, not just an office. It comes from a REIT investor disclosure rather than marketing copy.

Hypersonics is one of Dynetics' four stated market-facing solution areas, and it runs the Common Hypersonic Glide Body work — described in its own postings as the Army's number one priority for strategic weapons capability. Combined with a genuine local manufacturing footprint and rapid-prototyping capability, that concentration is hard to match elsewhere in the metro.
The production-side alternative is Lockheed Martin at Courtland, which the company calls the "Home of Hypersonic Strike Production" — but note Courtland is 45–55 minutes west of Huntsville.

The practical rule: relocate on a signed offer, not a program announcement. And prefer, all else equal, an employer whose local work sits on multiple program lines rather than one.
Against that risk sits the reason Huntsville is unusual in the first place.
